Terms and Conditions

These terms apply to everyone who uses fireandsecuritycompanies.co.uk. Part 2 also applies to businesses that are listed, and Part 3 to businesses that buy a Premium listing or Best-of place.
About us

Part 1: Using the directory
What the directory is. An information service to help you find fire and security companies. We don't carry out, arrange or guarantee any work. Any agreement for work is between you and the company you choose.
Accuracy. We take care to keep listings accurate and show the date each was last checked. Details can change, so confirm prices, approvals, insurance and availability with the company before you hire. Register checks show what we found on the date shown, not that a company is approved for your particular job.
No endorsement. A listing, an "Owner confirmed" label, a Premium listing or a Best-of place is not a recommendation or a guarantee of a company's work. Premium and Best-of are paid options and labelled appropriately.
Fair use. You may use the directory for your own purposes. Don't copy or scrape it in bulk, republish its content, use it to send spam, or try to break or overload the site.
Links. We link to company websites and official registers. We're not responsible for their content.
Our liability. We're not liable for the work, advice, prices or conduct of any listed company, or for losses caused by relying on a listing without checking it with the company. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit.
Part 2: Listed businesses
Free listings. We list real fire and security businesses free of charge, using public information. Inclusion is at our discretion. We may decline or remove a listing that is inaccurate, no longer trading, or outside the services and areas we cover.
Claiming and changes. If you claim your listing, you confirm you are authorised to act for the business and that the details you give us are true. We may check them before publishing.
Ranking. Companies are sorted by Google rating, then number of reviews, then name. Paying never changes this order.
Approvals. We only show BAFE, NSI or SSAIB status when we find the company on the official register. Telling us you're approved is not enough.
Part 3: Premium listings and Best-of places
Who can buy. Paid options are for businesses only.
Price. Premium listings cost £99 for 12 months. Best-of places cost £249 for 12 months. You pay in advance by secure payment link or bank transfer. There is no contract beyond the 12 months, and nothing renews automatically.
Start and end. Each term starts on the day the listing or place goes live and ends 12 months later. We'll email you a month before it ends. If you don't renew, your listing returns to a free listing.
Best-of eligibility. Best-of places are only available to companies that meet our published criteria when they apply and again before renewal. The number of places per town is capped.
Your content. You confirm you own or have permission to use the photos, text and logos you send us, and that they're accurate. You give us permission to show them on the directory. We may edit content for length or clarity, or refuse content that is misleading or unlawful.
Badges. You may show the Premium or Best-of badge on your own website and materials only while your term is active, and only in the form we supply.
Refunds. If your listing or place has not gone live, you may cancel within 14 days of paying for a full refund. If a Best-of place turns out to be unavailable, or we find you don't meet the criteria, we refund you in full. After it goes live, you may cancel at any time and it stays live to the end of the term, without a refund. We may remove a paid listing early because a business stops trading or they gave us false information without refund.
Liability for paid listings. We don't promise any number of views, enquiries or jobs. Our total liability to a paying business is limited to the amount it paid us in the previous 12 months.
Changes and law
We may update these terms and will change the date at the top. Changes don't affect a paid term already running. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
