How do we check the companies we list?
How do I choose a commercial fire or security company?
Accreditation
Look for BAFE for fire alarms, and NSI or SSAIB for security systems. Check the company on the scheme's own register, not just its website.
Police response
A monitored intruder alarm needs an NSI or SSAIB approved installer before the police will respond to it.
Servicing to BS 5839
Fire alarms in workplaces should be serviced at least every six months. Ask what the maintenance contract includes.
Insurance requirements
Your insurer may require a specific grade of alarm or approved installer. Check before you choose.
Compare written quotes
Ask for a site survey and a written quote that lists equipment, warranty, and annual costs.
Common questions about finding a fire and security company
Yes. Searching and contacting companies is free, and you deal with each company directly.
By Google rating, then by number of reviews. Premium and Best-of listings are sponsored. Best-of places sit in their own labelled block above the ranked list, and sponsorship never changes a company's position in the ranked list.
Sponsored places shown above a town's listings, open only to companies that meet our published criteria, including trading for two years and a 4.5 star Google rating from 10 or more reviews. Sponsorship adds visibility but does not change a company's position in the ranked list.
No. We are an independent directory. We list local companies so you can compare them and contact them yourself.
